CORE HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT TEAM

Over 150 years of Executives experiences are dedicated in Core Hospitality International.

• Karl Waelti, Chief Executive Officer from Switzerland. 47 year veteran in the Hotel & Restaurant Industry. Started his career as a Cook Apprentice. Attended the Swiss Hotel Management College of Montana in Lucerne and the Inn Keeper license in Chur Graubunden. He has a complete career record on job held since 1960. He is an educator, regular guest lectures at the Blue Mountain Hotel Management School. Was a lecturer at the Hotel Management Institute in Kenya, Regional Director Food and Beverage for Shangri-La International for 6 years where at the same time he had the opportunity to work with architects on the development of many Shangri-La Hotels such as Shangri-La Penang, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur. He also developed the Aberdeen Marina Club one of Hong Kong's five stars Marina Club. Then developed Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore as Operation Manager, a hotel with 800 rooms and 12 F & B outlets. Pan Pacific Hotel Auckland New Zealand as General Manager. In 1990 he started together with Ron Mullers, Choice Hotels Indonesia.

• Christian Schild, from Switzerland with 48 years of experience in Hotel Restaurant and Catering. Graduated from Hotel/Catering School Lugano, Switzerland and started his career as cook and after few years became an Executive Chef and Culinary Expert in several International Hotels in the world. In 1978 he came to Indonesia and worked as Executive Chef at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, where he invented the recipe of the famous Sop Buntut. After several years he moved to a big catering company, PT. Indocater as General Manager. With his knowledge and experiences, he then worked as Senior Consultant at Hotech Group of Company, besides that he also involved in kitchen, laundry design and FF&E at several international hotels in Indonesia. He also opened the SWISS IN Restaurant in Gold Hill Plaza Singapore, as owner partner. Closed down in August 1984 due to development of area. Opened the SWISS IN Restaurant in Gold Hill Plaza Singapore, as owner partner. Prepared a complete Feasibility Study and Proposal for BOB'S Shaslik Restaurant in Jakarta. Implemented and set-up the first Restaurant in Block M and was also involved in the initial training and operation of the place. Prior joining Core Hospitality International Property General Manager he was the Program Coordinator at Hotel & Tourism Management Swiss German University Campus German Centre Bumi Serpong Damai.

• Ellen Riupassa, Vice President Administration. She was graduated from Secretarial College in England. Her 31 years experience in Hospitality Industry was started in 1976 with Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta as Secretary/Typist then promoted as F & B Coordinator in charged of all F & B promotions, advertisings and Pitstop Discotheque. Prior to join Choice Hotels Indonesia in 1994 as Personal Assistant & Human Resources she was working for several years in an American Pharmaceutical Company. She worked herself up to the various positions; as Administration Manager, Director of Communication & Administration, Assistant Director of Operations to VP Franchise Services & General Manager of the company. She is also in charge on the company's Quality Assurance Program as a trained and licensed Inspector. Through her persistence she has managed to raise the quality of cleanliness and maintenance as well as focusing on General Management such as training, marketing and printing standard. She also was the General Manager of the TravellerS Suites Griya Hasunohana, a 44-units Apartment where she looks after the day-to-day operations. She has improved the performance of the Apartment.

• Istidjab M. Danunagoro, General Manager of Quality Hotel Yogyakarta and as time goes by with proven track record as well as seniority management, Choice Hotels Indonesia has assigned more responsibilities and appointed him as Vice President Operations for Central Java Region. Prior to join us in 1999 he was working as Executive Assistant Manager at Hotel Treva Jakarta. Istidjab graduated from the National Hotel Academy Bandung. His 37 years experience in Hospitality Industry was started at Hotel Wisata, Jakarta as Chief Cook. He is a very professional hotelier and has proven that he can run a hotel of high quality and he is an exceptional good leader. He keeps a harmonies relationship among the staff. Good diplomat with outstanding Public Relation abilities. He is a roll model for younger manager; he is also the Chairman of the Central Java’s Indonesian Hotelier Association. Also an asset for the company.

• Endang Suratminingsih, Director of Project & Development. Graduated from Tourism Diploma Indonesia and started her career as Guest Services Agent at Cengkareng Hotel then joined Sanno Airport Hotel, Jakarta as Front Office Supervisor. She moved to Aquilla Hotel group as Assistant Front Office Manager and in 1997 she joined Choice Hotels Indonesia’s property as Front Office Manager, promoted as Rooms Division Manager. With all her experiences in Rooms Division and Sales, she became Operation Manager at TravellerS Sunda Kelapa, prior joining the head office she was the General Manager and during the services she has improved the performance of the Apartment and the owners managed to sell all the units with a very good price. In her capacity as Director of Project and Development, she was involved in several projects; from the construction phase until the opening of our hotels in Pekanbaru, Salatiga, Balikpapan, Manado, Makassar, Kendari, Manokwari and Surabaya.

• Agus Tianto, Corporate Director of Finance, joined us in January 2005. He has been working in several up-scale properties under Choice management since 1996, first at the Clarion Suites Carita, Clarion Hotel Golden and TravellerS SuiteS Sunda Kelapa. He is graduated from Polythenic ITB, Bandung majoring in Accounting and his 12 years experience in Hospitality Industry was started with Carita Beach Resort as Night Auditor. His contribution is a plus point to the company in the sense of controlling overall financial matters and guide properties to achieve optimum control of the financial matters. Prior to joint Choice Hotels Indonesia’s team, he was with ACCOR group as Finance Manager of Mercure Hotel & Residence. He was also a pre-opening team of Clarion Suites Carita and Quality Suites Sunda Kelapa.

• Purtjahyatti, Corporate HR Director since January 2006, prior to join Choice Hotels Indonesia she has held several senior positions in Quality Hotel Yogyakarta, including Rooms Division Manager, HRD Manager. She also in-charge as Quality Assurance Inspector. Her long experience in the hospitality industry is an asset to strengthen the team of Choice Hotels Indonesia. Beside hotel’s experiences she has also worked for drilling & exploration department of Stanvac Indonesia. She spent few years in Siemens Indonesia holding a position as Travel Coordinator. Her experience in handling out-bound group from Indonesia was obtained while working for Thai International Airways/SAS.

• Agus Effendi, Director of Sales, became one of Choice Hotels Indonesia’s executives since 2006. His last assignment prior to join Choice Hotels Indonesia was with Grand Kemang Hotel where he was in charge as Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing. He is building-up and focusing his career in the area of sales & marketing, but he also mastering the area of Front Office where he practiced in this area for more than two years. His career was developed in International hotel chain and he was given the opportunity to improve his knowledge and skill by continued training, including QEDO – Qualification, Exploration, Development, Orientation. His knowledge and experience in the hotel business made him a trainer with the subjects on sales & marketing.

• Erick G. Soehardjo, Executive Assistant Manager, joined in 2007. Graduated from Institute of Business and Management Jakarta in Corporation with Washington International University, USA. Started his career as Food & Beverage Service Trainee at Hotel Garden Palace, Surabaya in 1991. Then he worked in Switzerland as Management Trainee as well as Craft Level in several outlets of Food & Beverage Department. In 1993 he worked as Assistant Manager of Pizzaria Restaurant, Hotel Hilton International, Jakarta. Then his career in Food & Beverages continues for several years at International and local Hotels group. He also has an experience as M.I.C.E. Manager and Catering Manager besides special skill in the opening team of new hotels or in restructuring hotel management. Prior joining Core Hospitality International he was a Managing Director of PT. Graha Sari Pacific.

• Benny M. Manullang, Master Degree in Finance Management from University of Widyatama, Bandung. Started his career in 1998 as an Accountant at PT. Grafika Medialoka Press. He joined an Oil Company Services as Accountant prior to become Assistant Finance & Accounting Manager at The Majesty Service Apartment. Prior to join Core Hospitality International as Financial Controller, he was working at PT. VPC Indonesia as Management Support System. He has skill in making recommendations that improve firm’s operations and financial position also involved to develop, control and maintained the quality management system and Standard Operational Procedure in order to fulfill the requirement of ISO 9001:2000 and company policy to all projects.

• M. Firman Wirajaya, Chief Engineer. Graduated from Jayabaya University Jakarta and started his career as Engineering staff at PT. YKK Alumico Indonesia in 1989. After several years he became a Chief Engineer at PT. Jaya Land, PT. Golden Hotel Jakarta and PT. Carrefour Indonesia. Prior to join Core Hospitality International he worked at PT. Koll Ipac as Estate Manager.

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF A PASSIONATE HOTELIER.



Let me start to write a few lines about myself.
I feel very fortunate for having given the chance to build my career in the Hotel Industry. I had the chance to travel around the world many times. It was an awesome geography lesson.
I cannot list all the jobs I had. But in a nutshell I started my career as a cook apprentice 47 years ago at the Hotel Bahnhof in Brugg Switzerland. From there I experienced, and kept on educating myself.
Learned languages, attended the Hotel School in Lucerne, become a lecturer in Kenya, sailed around the world, become F&B Manager, General Manager, President, C.O.O. and C.E.O. I love what I am doing and I believe I still want to do more.
I love to teach and coach young people for their career.

The rebranding from Quality to Grand Elite Hotel Pekanbaru



It's called good management.
The best management team in Indonesia. They all show a passion for what they are doing. They all stand out in the way the perform. They are reliable. One can count on them but most importantly they are LOYAL to the company.
Who can make it happen? The General Manager of course. That is the person we as a management company must be able to trust, account on, we stand or fall with the General Manager. We hier General Managers with the trust that they are loyal to us, that they do not forget who has given them a chance to the prestiges position of a "General Manager" Pak. Wija is working for us 10 years. He understands our philosophy and he feels to be part of Core Hospitality International.
Pak Wija is the best example of how a General Manager should be. Without his support and loyalty this would not have been possible. A convertion is not an easy task and the result speaks for itselve. That makes clearly the difference of excellent General Managers and just "WANABES".
People who are commited to our cause or they can just think for themselves.
